To the casual observer, two activities become immediately evident. Shopping, and hiking; and hiking, and shopping. Uptown Sedona, with its myriads of restaurants, ice cream parlors, boutique cafes, and shops, is a place where you can spend several hours browsing through many stores peddling all kinds of Native crafts. Of course, there are other stores with non-Native crafts, with prices to suit every budget.
Apart from the shopping and hiking, people come here for the warm, sunny days. You can spend hours simply soaking the sun, sitting by the pool with a tall, cold drink by your side.
If you are not mesmerized by the fantastic vistas of the surrounding landscape, you are not easily impressed. The red rock formations all around town change colors as the day goes by and what seemed a dazzling bright red in the early morning light, changes to subdued hues of ochre as the evening sunset approaches.
