Stay slim on board
Ocean cruises have become synonymous with weight gain. There is all that delicious food in several restaurants, specialty restaurants, so many bars, and in some cruises even little places where you can walk by and grab a quick bite. On top of all the available food, there is also the fact that you are not limited to any one item in the menu. We have watched people ask for more than one of the main entrees at one sitting. I myself was guilty of this in a particular cruise where lobster was in the menu. If you are conscious of maintaining your weight within limits and want to be able to eat most of the fantastic food available in these cruises, we have found one way to minimize the effect all those calories have on our bodies. We try to avoid the elevators as much as possible. Walking everywhere in the ship helps us to eliminate some to the calories we take in and helps our digestion. If you are able, regular exercise on the jogging/walking track is definitely a plus. Even walking briskly on the “Promenade Deck” will certainly help to keep those calories down. If you are an exercise enthusiast, frequent visits to the health club will certainly be a plus. We avoid the health clubs mainly because we do not enjoy walking on the tread mill or using the exercise machine, but they are a terrific way to maintain a healthy body if that is your pleasure.
