Pisa has been made famous by the leaning tower that seems to defy gravity and is about to fall to the ground. Through the centuries it has been straightened by awesome feats of engineering. DaVinci supposedly made some experiments to demonstrate the effects of gravity by dropping two balls of different sizes from its top floors. The Tower of Pisa, Baptistry, cemetery, and cathedral, started in the 13th century, are all located in what is known as the Field of Miracles. The famous leaning tower is in actuality the bell tower for the church. Wander around in some of the side streets, away from the tourist traps, and you discover great little shops and small family owned trattorias where you can get delicious pizza, pasta, wine and powerful espresso coffee.
